The following topics will be covered during this event:
1. Review of Recent Income Tax and GST/HST Cases
In this presentation, we will review a number of recent decisions from the Tax Court, Federal Court, and Federal Court of Appeal of interest. The cases will cover a number of topics relevant to tax practitioners, from tax planners, GST/HST specialists, and tax litigators.

2. Hot Topics in Estate and Trust Planning and Compliance
Speakers: Irina Koropenko, PhD, CFP, CLU, TEP & James Marks, LL.M.
This event will be held at the Donalda Club. The structure of the event is as follows:
- Reception (cash bar) – 5:30 p.m.
- Dinner – 6:00 p.m.
- Presentation(s) – 7:00 p.m. until 8:30/9:00 p.m., depending upon the speakers, topics and audience questions.

About the Instructor(s)
Irina is a comprehensive Estate and Financial Planning professional working with individual and corporate clients. She provides advanced financial planning including tax, estate, retirement, and business planning. She prepares and runs educational seminars, training sessions, and tutorials in financial, tax and estate planning for advisors and clients. Irina holds several professional designations, among them the Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter, Trust and Estate Practitioner, Chartered Financial Divorce Specialist, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst and is a member of both the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting. She is a Past President and currently sits on the board of the Estate Planning Council of Toronto. Irina also holds the Advanced Certificate in Family Business Advising from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
David Piccolo’s practice is focused on tax litigation and dispute resolution. He acts as counsel in income tax and GST/HST matters, representing corporate and individual clients at all stages of litigation – from audits and Notices of Objection with the Canada Revenue Agency, to seeking rectification orders in the Ontario courts, to appeals in the Tax Court of Canada. An experienced and savvy advocate, David has appeared in numerous reported cases before the Tax Court of Canada, the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal.
David earned his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School where he was the recipient of the Ronald Robertson Q.C. Memorial Tax Prize for the best research paper in the Tax Policy seminar. He has authored a number of papers in the field of tax law which have been published in The Supreme Court Law Review, the LSN Tax Law: Practitioner Series and Taxnetpro.
