About the Instructor(s)
Kathryn Bennett is a Senior Regional Sales Director with Desjardins Wealth Management. Kit uses her expertise as a tax and estate planning lawyer when working with advisors to provide high net worth individuals and business owners with sophisticated insurance-based solutions in the areas of wealth protection, business continuation and succession, and advanced insurance planning. She has a special interest in the strategic use of insurance products for farm estate planning, planning for persons with a disability, and cross-border planning.
Kit is an accomplished presenter and frequent author on topics such as personal and corporate estate planning and charitable giving using life insurance, segregated funds, and annuities, beneficiary designation planning, using insurance and annuities in Wills and trusts, and retirement planning.
Her professional memberships include the Law Society of Ontario, the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners (STEP), Advocis, the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting (CALU), the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association.
Lilian brings a wealth of financial services experience to her clients, having been a senior financial executive in the financial services industry for over 30 years. A Chartered Accountant by training, Lilian was VP Finance for Fidelity Investments Canada before opening up her own agency 8 years ago. Her experience has included: VP Risk Management for RBC Insurance; Chief Auditor for Sunlife Financial; Controller for TD Insurance and Chief Financial Officer for Advantex Marketing International.
Throughout her successful corporate career, she has always wanted the opportunity to start her own business and contribute back to her community. With her extensive financial services background she decided to open her own Insurance Agency and help her personal and corporate clients. Her Agency provides services for Auto, Home, Commercial, Life, Critical Illness, Health and Disability Insurance. In additional to Insurance services, she also helps her clients with Investment Planning through RRSP, RESP, TFSA, RRIF and regular Investments.
Lilian was born in Malaysia and obtained her Chartered Accountancy designation in London, England with Ernst & Young, London. She spent a year in the US with Ernst and Young International, before coming to settle in Canada in 1988. She also obtained her Chartered Accountancy designation in Ontario and worked with KPMG, Toronto before moving to industry.
Lilian lives in Etobicoke with her husband and two children. Her agency is in the community where she lives but her clients are from all over Ontario.
