About the Instructor(s)
David Chodikoff
David W. Chodikoff is a tax partner and the National Tax Litigation Lead of Miller Thomson LLP, a Canadian national law firm. David spent nearly 16 years as counsel and as a Crown prosecutor with the Department of Justice (Canada). David has conducted more than 550 cases before the courts in Canada. He has over 100 reported decisions.
David has co-edited and contributed to nine tax books including Advocacy and Taxation in Canada (published in 2004), Taxation & Valuation of Technology (published in 2008), The Tax Advisor’s Guide To The Canada-U.S. Tax Treaty (loose leaf – commenced publication in 2008), Taxation, Valuation and Investment Strategies in Volatile Markets (published in 2010), Tax Litigation – a multi-jurisdictional comparison (First Edition, 2013), Transfer Pricing & Tax Avoidance – a multi-jurisdictional comparison (First Edition, 2014), Tax Litigation – a multi-jurisdictional comparison (Second Edition, 2016), Transfer Pricing – a multi-jurisdictional comparison (Second Edition, 2017) and co-author of International Tax Evasion in the Global Information Age (2016).
David is in Martindale-Hubbell and is AV Preeminent® Rated. He is the recipient of numerous national and international awards including being selected as one of the leading tax controversy advisors in the world by the International Tax Review, Tax Litigation Lawyer of the Year, ACQ Global Awards (United Kingdom) and Tax Litigation Advisor of the Year, Annual International Awards, The Global Business Magazine and The Professional Sector Network (United Kingdom).
Mark Groulx
Mark Groulx is the
President and founder of AIM Group Canada Ltd. Based on an extensive
background in corporate and investment banking, Mark has led numerous
successful Mergers and Acquisition
transactions at AIM from origination through structuring, negotiation and
closing in several industries during the past 25 years. AIM sells
Canadian, privately owned businesses from coast to coast to buyers domestically
and internationally.
Before founding AIM in 1990, Mark spent four years in London, England, where he
was an investment banker at two sister firms, Orion Royal Bank and Libra Bank,
both owned by Royal Bank of Canada. In these positions he marketed corporate
finance products to U.S. corporations and European banks. Prior to working
in the U.K., Mark spent the first five years of his career as a corporate
banker in Canada, with Bank of America and The First National Bank of
Chicago.
Mark is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and he subsequently earned an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.
